Happy (1/2) Birthday to me!

I'm officially a half of a year older today and yes, I fully intend to celebrate. Cuppie cakes and candles and polaroids and general joie de vivre. I even bought myself a little pressie. Whoops.

Do you celebrate your half birthday?

friday wrap up

Here are some goodies for you:

The prettiest umbrella found on Paisley Petunia

The loveliest flat in Paris. Hopefully my own will be as sweet one day.

Rules for my unborn son

Fleabags are way more gorgeous than they sound.

I told you before that Nichole finds the best stuff, like these cupcake pincushions.

Oh, and she made this insanely awesome Perpetual Paris: a perennial calender/photo collage.

In LOVE with Bookbinders Design that Chelsea posted on {Frolic!}

Emily posted her ShopBop faves. They are some of my faves too.

The Lil Bee now has her own baby bee and is sharing some of her favorite childhood memories.

My favorite ladies over at Paisley Petunia are having a giveaway that's perfect for this time of year. I will be entering for sure.

I'm not really into doggie Halloween costumes but this is pretty much the best thing ever.

Yay Susannah!

"It is a camera. It takes photos, freezing our moments of joy in time"

This beautiful little Polaroid ProCam has a new home... with me. I'll have to think of a name for him.

Little Soldier Girl

"Four-year-old Paige Bennethum really, really didn't want her daddy to go to Iraq.
So much so, that when Army Reservist Staff Sgt. Brett Bennethum lined up in formation at his deployment this July,
she couldn't let go.
No one had the heart to pull her away."

i heart utah

Aren't Megan and Chelsea the cutest? Megan was nice enough to drag my sorry bum to and from the airport. And I got to meet Fabruzzio (aka Bruce) her cutest little pup ever. Harlow is very excited to meet him!

And don't worry, it's totally normal for Chelsea to hold a butter-y steak knife to my throat. I think my sides still hurt from laughing so hard.
I have a few more pics but not many. I get to busy being silly to remember to bust out the camera.

ps - I cannot wait to show you the most amazing necklaces that Chels is making. You will die.

I'm back

Back in sunny(ish) California, sitting at my desk and thinking of what a wonderful time I had in Utah. It was perfectly sweet and oh man did I laugh a lot. Photos to come soon.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

One of my all-time favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany's. And the other day Abby did a great post of some of her favorite images from the movie. Beautiful.

Bring me your dreams

“Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamer,
Bring me all your
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers
Of the world.”

Oh how I love you

best horoscopes ever

Rob Brezsny writes the best horoscopes. This is mine:

Right now you're like a sulking cherry tree that hasn't bloomed for years but then inexplicably erupts with pink flowers in mid-autumn. You're like a child prodigy who lost her mojo for a while and then suddenly recovers it when her old mentor comes back into her life after a long absence. You're like a dormant volcano that without any warning spurts out a round of seemingly prophetic smoke signals on the eve of a great victory for the whole world.

Get yours here.

I may need these.

friday i'm in love

One of the best things in the blog world this week is that Joanna has been sharing wedding photos and they are breathtaking. If you remember, I posted how in love I was with her and Alex's engagement photos back in January. I've teared up at each post.

Ten things you need to stop Tweeting about. (I'm totally guilty of the dog one.. whoops)

Please Sir is featuring Jenna Ardell. I love her photography. A lot.

Last week a video was posted on YouTube by the Anne Frank House showing the only moving pictures of her as a young girl. You can read the full story here. Amazing.

Jen Altman has a new (and gorgeous) book out, along with a 2010 calender. I plan on purchasing both.

The Little (Mama-to-be) Bee has a Shabby Apple discount code to share with you over here.

I love this beautiful video on super 8 film from Toast.

Have you ever heard of anything as delicious as pumpkin-hazelnut doughnuts? Making these for sure.

Brook Farm General Store my kind of store. (found via Decor8)

Some awesome iPhone art

Nichole finds the best stuff. Like these slippers.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. It's A Day in the Country time again and my cousin and her kiddies are visiting.

What are you doing this weekend?

xo

Those who say that only sunshine brings joy
Have never danced in the rain

I'm loving this semi-gloomy, rainy day.

so far so good!

This week is definitely living up to it's end of our agreement!

Yesterday on Twitter, PolaPremium hinted at some "big news" regarding The Impossible Project. So being the total geek that I am I checked my phone when my alarm went off at 4:45 am.

It may be the first time I've smiled at 4:45 am.

Okay, now for the good stuff. Inspired by The Impossible Project, Polaroid has decided to re-launch Instant Cameras! Wow. You can read all of the delicious details here and here and here.

a new week

Hello new week. Let's make a deal, k? If you promise to be nothing like last week, I will promise to be nice, and cheerful all week long and not quit my job. Deal?

Instead of complaining I'm counting my blessings and there are a lot of them.

In just over two weeks I'm off to spend a few (much needed) days with friends in Utah. I'm excited to see Chelsea, and Billie, and Megan and other good friends.

I'll also get to see Alyson and her brand new baby Rose.

I'm going to try to visit my Mission President. President and Sister Evans are probably the greatest people I know and just seeing their loving faces can make you feel better about the world in general.

Tonight we celebrated my Great Grandmother's 95th birthday. I made two cakes and both were dee-lish if I do say so myself. But now I have cake leftovers staring me in the face. So if you want a sugar fix come and get some cake!

My cousin and his wife came to visit for the weekend.

And next weekend my other cousin is coming.

Harlow is still the world's greatest dog.

There are two Trader Joe's near my house.

I have a job that pays me and so I can buy the things I need.

I have the greatest Primary class to teach every Sunday.

It is finally sweater weater.

I have a roof over my head and a warm bed to sleep in.

I have no real reason not to be happy. I am happy.

I hope you're happy too!

08 October 2009

thank goodness it's friday

I'm so glad to see the end of this week. Whew!

Fortunately I have something very sweet to look forward to this weekend: my Great Grandmother's 95th birthday. I LOVE her! I was left in charge of the dessert, which is one thing I can actually do well. So tomorrow night I'll be whipping up a red velvet cake and if time allows these fresh strawberry cupcakes.

Here's some other good stuff:

Nie Nie was on Oprah.

Man Shops Globe looks pretty amazing.

Sarah Gardan photographed the perfect French pumpkin patch.

A boy builds a windmill from a picture in a book to save his family. So inspiring.

Pretty much the funniest baby costume ever.

And this this the cutest.

Stacey took some beautiful photos of American Fork Canyon.

The Chanel Supershow looked insane and amazing. I love Karl Lagerfield.

If you want to see something pretty, you must check out the new black line by Ban.dō. It is too good.

I love this: a pie-in-a-jar.

Okay, have a wonderful weekend! xo

Emily Dickinson

It's all I have to bring today –
This, and my heart beside –
This, and my heart, and all the fields –
And all the meadows wide –
Be sure you count – should I forget
Some one the sum could tell –
This, and my heart, and all the Bees
Which in the Clover dwell.

Apparently it's National Poetry Day and this is one my favorites. I have a lot so maybe I'll post another one later. What are yours?

anthro pup

Anthropologie for dogs? Yougottabejoking. As if I need more temptation, or Harlow needs more treats. I love the rope leashes although they are probably too big for Harlow. I think they are the same ones that Melissa posted here.

And in case your pooch has everything... you can get a doggie soap-on-a-rope.

it's in the bag

For some reason I really love it when people post photos of what they carry in their handbags. Maybe it's because I'm really nosy, or maybe I just want to see if anyone else carries as much stuff as I do. Whatever the reason here are some of my favorites... I'll even show you mine.

Bitter Lemons' bog

Manda's bag

Xtinebaya's bag

Sofia's bag

Susannah's bag

Bitter Lemons' bag again

... you can see my bag right here. I was traveling light today.

What's in your bag?

Shanghai SoundBites

I stumbled on this amazing photographer via Oui Oui Mon Paris!.

I love this shot of Paris at night. I mean wow.

I blame my niece and nephew...

I took them to Build-a-Bear and ended up bringing her home.
(and by "blame" I mean love and adore)

are cupcakes still cool?

I hope so because I just bought this sweet shirt right over here. Thanks Naomi for the link.

And here are some of my favorite cupcakes from around the web:

Can you guess my favorite? It's totally the octopus. So awesome.

03 October 2009

oh weekend

I managed to get to work JUST in time this morning. I did not manage however, to throw on anything other than sweats and a cardigan. Whoops.

It turns out I do have some finds to share with you after all, so here you go:

This weekend is General Conference. It's a very special weekend where we get together to listen to our Church leaders give guidance and counsel. I love my faith.

I finally bought these darling Polaroid note cards. I can't wait to send them but I will keep a few for myself I'm sure.

And I discovered this lovely blog. Jenny is one of the contributers for the Polaroid note cards. (found via Joanna)

A great idea: using tie clips to display Polaroids.

This tumblr site has a great collection of Paris photos, quotes and videos.

Even though reading Anne's blog takes a little time and effort on my part (since my French is SO bad), looking at her gorgeous photography is easy peasy.

The most beautiful mini pies ever.

Lisa has a beautiful, and FREE October calander for you.

Lonny has launched! The void that Domino folding created is being filled.

I'm super excited for Design Sponge's book!

Lovely liquid Polaroids

Who knew I'd fall in love with ceramic cheese markers?

It's Friday and I've got nothing for you. Well, just two little Polaroids.

Have a lovely weekend!
