keeping secrets

Sometimes I'm too good at keeping secrets. Well, okay not secrets but I'm really good at keeping stuff to myself. It can be a good thing but sometimes I feel like the people around me don't know the the "real me" and then I realize it's because I don't often share that part of me. Don't worry, I'm not going to start spilling the gory details of my life for the of the web to see but I'll let you in on a few things.

Obviously it's no secret that I am obsessed in love with Paris.

But maybe you didn't know that I went to Paris for the first time when I was 19 years old.

And you probably don't know that on that trip to Paris I bought an old house key at a flea market because one day I wanted to have a door (and home) of my own in the city.

And I know you don't know that I've carried that key around ever since.

You also probably might not know that one of my only souveniers from that trip (besides a few photos and a bottle of Coke) is a page I ripped out of the phone book.

And there is no way you would know that I ripped out the "D" page because the boy I "loved" was a D name and I imagined us living there together with our names on that page.

Okay that last one was embarrassing.

But there you have it - my Paris secrets.

you are too

I've seen this around the web lately but somehow it sweetly ended up in my email inbox.
I think we should all read this every morning.
Deal?

a peace offering

I didn't mean to take this long of a break from blogging. Whoops. As a peace offering here are some pretty french flowers from Jen

So lately I've been:

Getting ready for France

Getting ready to move

Trying to stick to this darn sugar-free diet (it's brutal by the way)

Trying not to shop (equally brutal)

And then there is the usual: work, friendly, family, and of course Harlow.

It doesn't sound like a long list but I've just been a busy bee. Things are looking good though and I'm ready for another week!

a beautiful life

A beautiful life does not just happen, it is built daily by prayer, humilty, sacrifice and love. May that beautiful life be yours always.

I think I have blogger's block. Hopefully I'll get it together this week. In the meantime I hope you are having a beautiful week!

Just because I can't eat one it doesn't mean I can't look at them right? You've probably seen these goodies from Ming Makes Cupcakes but they just look too good!

Flavors (clockwise): Flourless beet chocolate cupcake w/ whipped cream, Sour cream chocolate cupcake w/ Nutella frosting, Sour cream fig cupcake w/ cream cheese frosting, Sour cream apricot cupcake w/ mascarpone frosting and toasted almonds.

my brave little soldier

I took Harlow to get spayed yesterday. It was a very emotional day - for both of us. I was up most of the night before wondering if anyone had ever invented doggy birth control and wondering (if there was such a thing) if I'd remember to give it to her every day.

She was so cheerful and sweet on our way to the vet's. But when I picked her up... oh the sadness. I'm not going to lie. I got a little teary eyed when I saw her. She was a wilted little thing of a pup with a scar and goop in her eyes. The vet said not to be surprised if she started snapping at me and was a little stand-offish. So not the case with my little pup - she was super dopey and cuddly and whimpered for a little while when we got home but spent the rest of the day sleeping on my lap.

I know I sound so silly but honestly ... ugh! I'm not good at being around sick people or sick puppies. The vet said Shih Tzu's are particularly sensitive to anesthetic and to keep an eye on her. And now I have to worry things like scars and infections and the cone head and blah, blah, blah...

If you need me I'll be home fretting over Harlow.

gather ye rosebuds while ye may

The word "floral" used to make me cringe. It put me in mind of big, frilly bloomers and old lady blouses. But I have to admit they are kind of growing on me. Forals, that is .... not bloomers and blouses.

Like this top from Alternative Apparel, which I love.

After reading Jane's post and Anabela's post I'm liking florals even more.

And then Target introduced their Liberty of London line and now I'm a little obsessed. I mean these wee flower earrings are darling... and so are these.

And right now all of Ban.do's floral headbands are 30% off. I especially love this one

So what about you? How do you feel about florals?

And craving Cafe Rio, and missing seeing three of my friends cute pregnant bellies, and well this reminded me of Billie and Brian.

So that's it. A random little post.

Ps - Thank you all for the Happy Birthday wishes!
