daily affirmation ... and when that fails...

How adorable is Jessica?? Since right now my job is a soul-sucker I think I'm going to do Jessica's dance/chat every morning. Poor Harlow will think I've completely lost it.

And if that doesn't work...

Haha! This picture made me laugh out loud.

Have a beautiful weekend. I have some exciting stuff going on this weekend so I'll see you guys Monday! xo

ps, I hope no one is offended by that second pic... it's just been one of those days!

France via my iPhone

Here are some pictures I took with my iPhone (using the Shake It Photo app.)

A trip to France requires new shoes- from Urban Outfitters and the leather pair is from Aldo.
I took this picture while waiting (frantically at the airport because I forgot my camera battery at work. My ONLY camera battery.) Someone was able to drop it off in the nick of time so the crisis was narrowly averted. Who forgets their camera battery when they're going to a photography retreat? Me, that's who.

On my way!

So... if you're ever driving from Paris to Beynac-et-Cazenac make sure you don't type just "Beynac" into Google Maps. Because the 5 hour drive will turn into a 10 hr drive (after a day of work and an 11 hr flight) and your contacts will make your eyes feel like they are bleeding. But you will get to drive by pretty little places like this. So you know, it's not a complete loss.

And pretty streets like this.

When we finally got to Beynac-et-Cazenac it was amazing and beauitful. There were flower boxes everywhere!

Back in Paris, I stayed at Mama Shelter which was really, really cool. I even got to share a room with Chewbaca. He was chill.

The Paris Metro. Not the sweetest smelling place in July! But sort of pretty as far as subways go.

We ate so many delicious crepes in France but the very best was Creperie des Canettes. Nicole recommended them and they were oh so delicious!

Made it to the Eiffel Tower! Waiting for the sun to set to see it sparkle.

... and she did not disappoint!

No pictures from the trip home. There was nothing exciting about leaving France. EXCEPT seeing little Harlow!

meeting your quota

“We need 4 hugs a
day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs
a day for growth.”

I don't think I'm meeting my quota.

... is totally acceptable as long as you're wearing your finest jewels.

These photos by Terry Richardson have been favorites of mine for a long time. Cupcakes and diamonds are a pretty unbeatable combination.

have a wonderful weekend

See you Monday!

There were huge fields of sunflowers all over the French countryside. This was taken between Sarlat and Beynac-et-Cazenac.

Everything you hear people say about the south of France is true. It was beautiful and wonderful and I can't wait to share more pictures from the trip. And I can't wait to go back.

But now I need things like sleep, clean clothes and major Harlow time.

happy 4th of July!

But since our hearts are small,
Ordained for each one spot should prove
Beloved over all.

because, you know, I love Harlow

It's sinking in that I'm going to be leaving my precious pup for a whole week and it's making me sad and nervous.

I know, last year I left her for 10 days while I was in England. But she was just 1 year old then. Now that she's 2 years old I obviously love her twice as much.

My sweet friend (and former babysittee), Bailey, is going to come over during the day to play with and walk her. And so will my sister and her dog. And she'll sleep at my mom's house so she'll get to play with her bff - my mom's husky, Kiah. I have such great friends and family and apparently they have so much fun stuff planned for her that she probably won't even miss me.

But you know, I'll worry anyway.

check this mother out

You know whose blog I love right now? (Okay just not right now but for a long time) Melisa's blog - The Lil Bee.

I mean she's just really awesome. And her little baby girl is pretty stinking cute too.

You should check out her Target photo shoots and how she amazingly dropped her baby weight and of course her Feather Report.

plane clothes

I love airports. Even if I have to hang out there for a few hours I generally don't mind it because it's the start of something fun. It's an excuse to eat McDonald's, people watch and watch movies on my laptop. All good stuff.

But the part about traveling I still haven't figured out is what to wear on the plane. I've done jeans/flip flops/hoodies. I've done long comfy dresses, I've done sweatpants and tshirts, I've done skirts/sandals/sweaters...

and it all ends up the same. I get off the plane looking like a used dish rag.

Even if I make a pit stop in the ladies' before I leave the airport I still can't seem to get it together after a 12 hour flight. And yet somehow I'm always on a plane full of people (men and women) who look like they're about to be in a commercial for ice cold milk or Ivory soap or something.

Don't even get me started on what to pack...

So what do you wear when you fly?
